Replacement thermal reset for the Riccar R25S Standard upright, part B603-2500B. This is the resettable thermal protector that interrupts power to the motor when temperatures climb past the safe range, then allows the vacuum to be restarted once it has cooled.
Overheating on an upright is almost always an airflow problem — a packed bag, a clogged filter or a blockage in the hose — and the thermal reset is what keeps that from cooking the motor. The device itself can eventually fail, either tripping constantly on a machine with clear airflow or never tripping at all. Neither condition should be left alone: a protector that no longer works removes the motor's last line of defense.
