Left-side scroll housing for the TC motor assembly used in the Riccar R30 Brilliance, Simplicity S30 Synchrony and Maytag M1200 upright vacuums. This half mounts beneath the fan and forms one wall of the scroll that channels air away from the blades.
A shell that is cracked or has been distorted by heat lets air circulate inside the motor housing instead of moving through the vacuum. Suction drops, the motor runs louder, and it runs hotter because the airflow that normally cools it is being lost. A sound housing on reassembly restores the sealed path the motor was built around.
