C388-4800 is a complete secondary filter assembly filled with granulated charcoal, built for two uprights that share one platform under different brand names: the Riccar Radiance RADP and the Simplicity Synergy G9.

Loose granulated carbon works on a different principle than pleated media. Rather than physically catching particles, the carbon chemically binds odor compounds in the airstream, which is why this stage targets pet, smoke and cooking smells specifically rather than dust in general. It does that job downstream of the bag and just ahead of the motor, before the exhaust air leaves the machine.
