Product details

Scroll housing, right-hand outer fan cover in black, part number B486-0214. The scroll is the moulded shell that wraps the motor fan and steers the air it moves through the machine; this piece is the outer half on the right side of that assembly.

Riccar and Simplicity use the MV designation on their Tandem Air upright motor platform, and this housing is the MV-series version. A cracked or distorted scroll half lets air recirculate around the fan instead of being pushed through the vacuum, which shows up as weak suction and a noisier, hotter motor. Replacing a damaged shell during a motor teardown puts the air path back the way it was designed.
