This is the short seal for the back cover, part B480-6200, used on MV coded Riccar and Simplicity uprights. It is the smaller of the two strips along that cover and closes the section of the joint the long seal does not reach.
Both strips do the same job: hold the duct closed so airflow from the nozzle reaches the bag without leaking along the way. They age at the same rate, so order B480-6200 together with the airpath back cover seal B480-4200 rather than opening the machine twice. If a cover has been off to clear a clog and the vacuum came back weaker than before, a seal that did not reseat is the first thing to look at.
