B220-3900 is the gasket that sits at the bag mount on Simplicity and Riccar machines built to the DC parts series. It is a soft seal rather than a structural part, and its whole function is closing the gap between the bag collar and the intake so debris cannot travel around the bag. Because it sits inside the bag chamber rather than on an outside panel, it rarely gets a visual check unless the bag is already being changed for another reason.

Age and heat flatten this kind of gasket over time. Fine dust settling loose in the bag chamber, or a dusty smell while the machine runs, both point to a mount seal that has stopped sealing.
