The board is the electronics inside the nozzle head, and it is what fails when the nozzle has power at the hose but the brush motor never starts, or when the nozzle behaves erratically as the wand is moved.
Diagnosis is worth doing before ordering. Check the hose connection and the nozzle's own wiring first, since a broken conductor upstream produces exactly the same symptom as a dead board and costs nothing to test.
