Part B384-1400D is the black base connector for the handle tube on PV and MV chassis Riccar and Simplicity uprights, in the modified (later) form. It is the joint at the bottom of the handle tube where the tube meets the body of the vacuum, and it takes every push, pull and lean the operator puts through the handle.
When the connector cracks the handle develops play, then wobbles side to side, and the wiring routed through the handle can be pinched as the joint moves. Fitting a new connector restores a rigid handle without replacing the tube or the complete handle assembly.
