Part B375-0300B is the tension spring for the idler arm on PV-platform Riccar and Simplicity uprights. The spring loads the idler lever against the drive belt, and that constant pressure is what keeps the belt gripping the motor shaft and turning the brushroll as the machine moves over carpet.

A spring that has stretched or lost temper stops holding the belt tight. The usual signs are belt squeal on startup, a brushroll that stalls when it meets thick pile, and belts that glaze or burn far sooner than they should. Fitting a new belt to a tired spring only masks the problem for a few weeks, so replace both together when a machine keeps eating belts. The idler arm cover is available separately if it was damaged during the teardown.
