Small motor compartment seal for Riccar and Simplicity full-size uprights, part B221-0600. It closes the joint around the motor housing so that air pulled through the bag cannot bypass it, which is what keeps suction working at the nozzle instead of leaking away inside the body.
A hardened, flattened or missing seal is one of the usual causes of weak pickup on a machine that is otherwise healthy, and it is a cheap thing to rule out before anyone starts blaming the motor.
