This molded cover fits over the idler arm on Riccar and Simplicity upright vacuums, sold as part B375-0214. The idler arm is the pivoting lever that holds tension on the drive belt, and the cover keeps the carpet lint and pet hair that accumulate in the belt area away from that lever during ordinary use.

These covers grow brittle from motor and belt heat over time, and once a cover breaks apart, the pieces can drop into the belt run and jam against the pulley or the tensioner itself. Replacing this cover by itself does nothing for lost suction, though keeping the tensioner area clean this way lowers the odds of debris causing a bigger belt problem down the road.
