This six-pack of Type H allergen paper bags, part 855, is the bag for Riccar and Simplicity model 14 and model 18 uprights. The media is layered to hold fine dust rather than let it drift back out through the bag wall while the machine runs.

Bags are the cheapest maintenance a vacuum gets and the most commonly neglected. Once one is roughly two-thirds full, airflow through the packed media drops off, suction goes soft, and the motor works harder for less pickup. Fitting a fresh bag puts the machine straight back where it was.

Seat the collar squarely on the inlet so the whole bag sits on the sealed side of the airflow. Six bags is usually a year or more of ordinary household use.
