This is the right-hand half of the fan scroll housing, part B386-3214, used on PV2-platform R40 and S40 uprights from Riccar and Simplicity. Clamped together with its mirrored left counterpart, the pair forms the volute around the fan that channels discharge air toward the exhaust and keeps the fan tip clearance consistent.
Symptoms that point here are a rattle or whine that changes with motor speed, visible cracks along the seam, or a machine that lost suction after ingesting a hard object. Order the left half, part B386-3114, at the same time if that side is also damaged.
