This reusable cloth outer bag for Sanitaire SC530 backpack vacuums ships with one paper inner bag already installed, part 86261. The cloth bag is the reusable, wash-free part of the system, while the paper insert inside it handles the fine dust filtration that gets replaced on its own schedule as it fills.
Because the machine is worn on the back for extended runs, both layers matter for keeping the motor breathing freely: a clogged paper insert cuts airflow the same way it would in any bagged vacuum, and a cloth outer bag that has thinned or torn lets fine dust bypass the filtration layer entirely and drift back toward the operator.
Once the included paper bag is used up, replace it with a fresh paper insert rather than the whole cloth assembly. The cloth outer bag itself typically outlasts several paper inner bags before it needs replacing on its own, so budgeting for paper inserts as the recurring cost makes more sense than replacing the full assembly each time.
Inspect the cloth bag's seams and the collar where it attaches to the backpack unit whenever you swap in a new paper insert, since a loose seal at that connection point will pull suction away from the tool rather than through it.
