Pleated post filter with a soft frame, part B623-0400, for Simplicity and Riccar upright vacuums across the 7850, 8900, 8905, 8920, 8925 and 8955 range. A post filter is the last stage of filtration on the machine: it sits after the motor, so the air on its way out of the vacuum is cleaned before it re-enters the room.
Pleating the electrostatic media packs a large surface area into a small cartridge, and the flexible frame lets the filter press into its housing for a tight fit without cracking at the corners. Because it handles motor exhaust rather than bulk dirt, this filter tends to darken with age rather than visibly clog — a grey, discolored cartridge is the normal sign that a change is due.
