Replacement seal ring for the dust compartment on Simplicity Scout and Scout Plus canister vacuums, part number B481-0001. The ring forms the gasket between the bag chamber and the compartment lid, so the air the motor pulls has to travel through the bag rather than leaking around the edge of the housing.
Gaskets flatten, harden and eventually crack after years of the lid being opened and closed. When that happens, suction at the hose falls off even though the motor and the bag are both fine, and fine dust starts finding its way into the body of the machine. Fitting a fresh ring puts the seal back and keeps debris where it belongs.
