    Lower stretch hose for the nozzle, part CSVP-0009, fitted to the Simplicity SVPET, a Clean Air bagless pet upright. It carries dirt from the nozzle up into the main body of the vacuum, flexing every time the handle is reclined and straightened.

    Constant flexing is exactly what wears these hoses out. A split along a rib, or a cuff that has pulled loose at either end, shows up as a machine that runs at full noise while picking up very little, because the airflow is escaping before it ever reaches the dirt cup.
