Part B470-2600 is the black spring-assist axle shaft used on Simplicity Synchrony and Riccar Brilliance uprights, two ranges Tacony builds on the same platform. It is the shaft itself, with the spring-assist linkage anchored to it, not a bare axle pin.
The spring assist is what keeps the handle light when the body is tipped back for cleaning under furniture. When the shaft wears or bends, the tilt starts to bind partway through its arc, or the body no longer holds level once reclined.
