This is the grey nozzle assembly for Titan TC6000 and TC6000.2 commercial uprights, part U11-541.SC - the front cleaning head itself, not a cover for it. It carries the brush roll and forms the air path across the carpet, so its condition sets how the machine cleans more than almost anything else on the vacuum.
Nozzles crack at the corners and wear thin along the leading edge after years of being pushed into baseboards. What you see is uneven pickup: a clean strip through the middle of each pass with debris left at both edges, or a head that suddenly needs two or three passes where one used to do.
Take the chance to look at the brush roll and belt while the head is apart. A worn roll in a new nozzle cleans no better than the old one did.
