The 28 in. figure on the Torrent TW050-W28-U is measured with the side brushes folded out. Retracted, the machine sweeps 23.6 inches and passes through a standard doorway, which is the reason those brushes fold rather than sitting fixed.
Underneath is a Tandem Roller System of two counter-rotating brushes feeding a 10 gallon hopper, with a continuously active dust control motor drawing through a flat-pleat filter so a pass does not lift back into the air what it just collected. It reads 54 dB(A), quiet enough for occupied space, and a front-mounted LED headlight picks out debris under racking and in badly lit corners.
A 12 volt 75 Ah AGM battery and its charger come with the machine, giving about four hours of sweeping against a six hour recharge, so one pack covers a shift but not two back to back. Tornado rates it at 30,000 square feet an hour.
