Part B123-3714 is the top half of the fan housing fitted to ULW ultra-lightweight uprights, made from black Xenoy. This upper section covers the fan alone, and the lower half is bought separately.
Wrapped around the motor fan, this housing forms the channel that suction air travels through on its way into the machine, which is why both its shape and how well it seals affect how much airflow actually reaches the bag. When hard debris slips past the agitator and hits the fan, the housing tends to crack, and a cracked housing leaks air instead of drawing it in.

Should the top housing show a crack, look over the fan and the lower housing too, since one impact rarely damages just a single piece, and a fan blade that has taken a hit can throw the whole assembly off balance even when the housing around it still appears intact.
