Product details

A spigot coupling works in the opposite direction from most central vacuum fittings. Instead of accepting pipe into two glued sockets, both of its ends are sized to the outside of 2 inch central vacuum pipe, so the coupling itself slips into the hubs of other fittings the way a length of pipe would. The Vaculine catalog lists part 765527 as exactly that, a spigot by spigot coupling molded in white rigid PVC.

That geometry solves a specific installation problem: joining two socketed fittings directly to each other. Anywhere an elbow needs to meet a tee, a coupling, or an inlet mounting fitting without a run of pipe between them, the improvised answer is a short hand-cut pipe stub, and this fitting is the cleaner one. It closes the gap in less space than a cut stub, seats fully in both hubs, and avoids the ragged saw edge a stub leaves inside the airflow path.

The bore stays smooth through the joint, which matters anywhere in a system where an internal step or ridge could catch debris and slowly narrow the passage. Solvent-weld both ends with standard PVC cement and primer, and dry-fit the whole cluster of fittings first, since a fitting-to-fitting joint leaves less room to adjust alignment than a pipe joint does once the cement grabs.

Keep the distinction from an ordinary slip coupling straight when ordering: a slip coupling joins two pipe ends into its sockets, while this spigot version joins two fitting sockets over its ends. Sold in a case of 125, the carton quantity Canplas ships for supply houses and installers stocking connectors in volume rather than buying one repair at a time.
