Part HS4000V-SKIT restores the internal sealing sleeve of a Hide-A-Hose retractable inlet valve. It is the surface the hose end rides against every time it locks in or releases, and it is the wear point that ends most of these valves rather than anything mechanical failing.
Once that sleeve hardens or splits, the valve loses its airtight seal at the inlet even though the hose and power unit are otherwise fine. The hose will seat but feel loose doing it, and suction measured at that one inlet drops compared with others on the same system.
Testing another inlet before ordering is worth the two minutes, since a suction problem that appears only at this one location, rather than everywhere, is the clearest sign the fault is the valve sleeve and not the power unit or piping. A drop at every inlet points elsewhere and is not something this kit will fix.
Hide-A-Hose lists this kit for both the HS4000 valve and the earlier HS3000 it replaced, and the box holds a top cap, a rubber sealing sleeve, six mounting screws, and a printed instruction sheet. Before starting, the hose has to come off the valve completely, and the valve body typically has to come out of the wall to reach the sleeve.
