Product details

B338-3200 is the variable speed slide on Riccar Prima canisters, the control an owner runs along its track to set how hard the motor pulls. Tacony carries it under this number for PRIMA.2, PRIMA.4SS, PRIMAP.2, PRIMAP.CPN, PRIMAP.FSN, PRIMAP.TAD, PRIMAP.TAP, R50SS, R50FSN and R50TAP.

Speed control matters more on a canister than most owners expect. The same nozzle that pulls hard across a bare floor will just as readily catch a curtain hem, the fringe of a throw rug or a light fabric edge if suction is not backed off first, so a control that no longer holds a lower setting takes that safeguard away and leaves the machine working at full power on every surface.

The slide is one part of a speed circuit, which is why the symptom is worth pinning down before ordering. Suction locked at a single level wherever the slide sits, a speed that jumps as the slide passes through its travel, and a setting that will not hold under load are different faults, and a slide that also feels rough or catches partway along is the clearest case for replacing this part rather than looking further into the circuit behind it.

  • Part number: B338-3200
  • Listed as: variable speed slide
  • Application: Prima canister vacuums from Riccar
  • Sold as: a single control

Run the existing control through its whole travel and note exactly where it misbehaves before ordering. That detail is what separates a worn slide from a fault further down the circuit, and it is worth having to hand if a new slide does not clear the symptom.
