This lower wand carries the cord that feeds the powered nozzle, since these Kenmore and Panasonic canisters route both airflow and current through the same tube.

It is a 20 inch wand with a 29.5 inch cord, sold as part KC99PBZTZV06. It is verified to fit the Panasonic MC-CG902, MC-CG937, MC-CG973 and MC-V9658, and the Kenmore 116.20312001, 116.20412001 through 116.20412003, 116.20512000 through 116.20512003, 116.20612003, 116.20700001C, 116.20712000 and 116.21513000.

A wand assembly like this fails two separate ways. An impact dents the tube so it no longer telescopes smoothly, or the cord itself breaks and the nozzle cuts out partway through a cleaning pass, often right at the point where the wand is fully extended or pushed back in. Flex the cord along its length while the nozzle is running: if the power flickers as you do, the cord is the fault rather than the nozzle. The upper wand is a separate section on these canisters, so check both before deciding which one to replace.
