White is usually the finish installers reach for on a CanSweep sweep inlet, since it tends to blend into a painted baseboard or a light-colored toe-kick, where a darker plate would stand out. Part 845621W is that white trim plate, hiding the oversized wall opening made to reach the sweep inlet valve behind it.
That opening is typically cut a little larger than the valve itself needs, to leave room to reach the pipe connection during installation, and the trim plate is what hides the extra cut once everything is buttoned up. Swap it out once cracking, brittleness, or yellowing sets in and it no longer matches the surrounding paint, none of which has any effect on the sweep inlet valve working underneath it.
This listing is for the trim plate only, not the sweep inlet valve itself; a black plate is stocked separately for installations that call for a darker finish.
Swapping it is a cosmetic-only job: release the fasteners or clips holding the old plate, lift it away from the valve, and press the replacement into place the same way, with no pipework involved at any point. Handle it by the edges while fitting, since the finish shows fingerprints easily before it is ever mounted, and give the wall around the opening a wipe first so nothing gets trapped behind the new plate.
