The bag is rated to capture 99.97 percent of particles down to 0.3 micrometers, and the carbon sits inside the media for exhaust odor rather than dust capture, working passively as air passes through on its way to the motor. That effect fades along with airflow as the bag fills, so both jobs the bag does taper off together rather than one outlasting the other.
HEPA grade media loads differently from standard paper because the fibers are packed denser to begin with. A bag that still looks only partly full by eye can already be restricting airflow more than a standard bag would at the same visible level, so judging by feel and by pickup on carpet is more reliable here than judging by appearance through the bag door.
One distinction is worth getting right before you order. This is the Type Y style used across the WindTunnel range, and it is not the bag for the WindTunnel 2 machines, which sit outside the Type Y list despite the shared family name. Confirm your model calls for a Type Y bag rather than matching on the WindTunnel badge alone.
