Part 950005 is the brush roll that comes out of the Earlex 950 3-in-1 broom vacuum, sold assembled and ready to install without any extra hardware.
A broom vacuum has comparatively little suction behind it, so the spinning brush does most of the work of freeing dirt from a rug or clearing it off a bare floor. Once the bristles wear short or take a permanent bend, contact with the surface drops off and dirt gets shoved along ahead of the machine rather than actually gathered up. Hair and thread wound tightly around the core have the same effect and add drag on the motor besides.
