Eureka Base Assembly - Sanitaire 886/888 Series, 12 Inch Red

Sanitaire's 886 and 888 family of commercial uprights, also sold under the Eureka name, mounts a 12 inch hex brush roll inside a red housing, and part 5572618 is that complete base assembly.

This housing is the lower boundary of the air route running from carpet to fan, so any crack in it puts a hard ceiling on how much suction reaches the pile regardless of how strong the motor is. Daily commercial use splits the shell at an impact point, works the brush roll seats loose, or scuffs the underside thin enough that air slips in behind the brush instead of passing through it.

Width and drive type are what to confirm before ordering. This base is sized for the hex roll at 12 inches that the 886 and 888 machines carry, and a base from the wider models in the same family will not carry it. Match the model number on the rating plate against the list rather than going by appearance.

A cracked base is a replacement rather than a repair, since patching one spot leaves the rest of the shell in the same condition and the machine back apart again before long. Fit a fresh belt and look over the brush roll while it is open, so the machine goes back into service sorted rather than half sorted.
