Part 54104A1 is a 12-inch wood brush roll with rubber end caps for Sanitaire and Eureka uprights. This is the current version of the roller and it does not include a beater bar, so a machine that originally came with one will feel different on thick or deep pile once this roller is installed.
Two things fail on a roller like this at roughly the same rate: the bristle rows go soft and shorten with use, and the rubber caps at each end harden and crack over time. Once bristle length falls off, loose dirt gets pushed around rather than picked up, and once a cap fails, the roller loses its true seat in the bearing and raps against the nozzle housing as it turns. Because both wear on a similar timeline, a bristle check is a good moment to look at the caps too, saving a second teardown later.
It fits the Eureka and Sanitaire C2132A, C2132B, C2132B1, C2132B2 and C2132B3, the C2133A, and the S635A, SC689A, SL635A and SL635B.
