Part 541042 is a 12-inch brush roll repair kit for the Sanitaire and Eureka SC9020 and SC9050 (SC9050E) commercial uprights, and it also serves the Electrolux-Eureka EP9025A, EP9025A1, EP9027A and EP9027A1. It is the repair route for a worn agitator on those machines, the part that lifts carpet fiber so the airflow behind it has something to pull away.
As bristles chip, shorten, or wear unevenly along the row, the roller glides across the surface rather than working down into the pile, and pickup drops even though suction at the hose still feels normal. On a commercial machine that runs long daily hours, that flattened stretch of bristle can show up faster than expected, so a periodic look at the roll is worth the few minutes it takes.
Bringing the agitator back to full bristle height restores firm contact against the carpet and the pickup that goes with it. Check your machine's model plate before ordering, since the SC9050E designation matters for a correct fit on that model, and compare the parts you take off against what arrives before fitting anything.
