Product details

Ten hood attaching springs for Eureka and Sanitaire 886-series commercial uprights, part 53117. Each spring holds tension on the hood latch point so the top cover stays closed and seated flat over the bag compartment while the machine is in motion.

These springs work under constant flex every time the hood is opened for a bag change, and on a machine running daily commercial hours that adds up fast. A weak or broken spring lets the hood ride loose, rattle, or pop open partway during use, which lets dust escape around the edge instead of staying sealed inside.

  • Part: 53117, hood attaching spring, 10 pack
  • Fits: Eureka and Sanitaire 1934A, 1950A, C2194A, C2194B, SC877D, SC877E, SC886F, SC886G, SC887D, SC887E, SC888G, SC889A, SC899G
  • Function: holds tension on the hood latch so the top cover seats flat and closed
  • Replace when: the hood rattles, sits loose, or no longer latches down firmly

A loose hood is more than a rattle. On a bagged machine, a cover that does not sit fully closed lets suction leak past the seal instead of pulling entirely through the bag, so pickup at the nozzle drops in a way that is easy to blame on the bag or filter when the real cause is a hood that never latched down properly.

Buying the 10 pack means a broken spring gets replaced the day someone notices it, rather than sitting on a list until the next parts order goes out, which matters on a machine whose hood is opened for a bag change every working day.
