Part 636471 is the upper hood for the Eureka and Sanitaire S635 Blue Line upright, the shell that covers the motor compartment and closes off the top of the machine. Depending on the production run you receive, the finish arrives in gray or in blue, and both colors are functionally identical, restoring the machine to correct working order either way.
The hood is a structural cover, not a cosmetic one. Once it cracks or a corner snaps off, the motor compartment underneath sits open to whatever the vacuum kicks up, and dust reaches wiring and bearings that were never meant to see it. On a machine that is otherwise sound, fitting a new hood makes far more sense than replacing the whole upright.
