Part 53158 is a 10-pack of hex end nuts for Eureka and Sanitaire brush roll shafts. The nut fastens the hex end onto the shaft so the roller's end assembly stays fixed and spins as a single unit inside its bearing.
When one backs off, that end of the roller gets play in its bearing, and knocking in the nozzle is usually the first thing you notice. One side of the roller can droop lower than the other while the belt begins to walk on its pulley soon after. Left long enough, a missing nut allows that end assembly to separate from the shaft, and the roller stops turning altogether.
They fit the Eureka and Sanitaire 2122A, 2124A and 2134A, the C2094FB, C2094G, C2094GW, C2094H and C2094H1, the E1362A, E1365AA, E1372AR, E1372BF and E1375AF1, and the S645A, SC684F, SC688, SC877D, SC877E, SC886F, SC886G, SC887D, SC887E, SC888G, SC889A and SC899G.
