Running down the centre of the 16 inch VG-1 brush roll used on Eureka and Sanitaire commercial uprights is a drive shaft, and part 36517 replaces it. It carries rotation from the belt out across the full 16 inch width of the roll.
Length matters here as much as fit. A shaft that is bent, or worn where it rides in the end bearings, lets the roll run out of true. You get a knock or rumble that rises with speed, agitation that is heavier on one side than the other, and extra load dragging on the belt and bearings.
Our fitment data lists it for the Eureka and Sanitaire SC899G. Replace the end bearings at the same time if they feel notchy, and measure the 16 inch length against your old roll before ordering.
