Part 53273 is a 16-inch aluminum VGI brush roll with hex ends and ball bearings, built for the Sanitaire and Eureka SC899G commercial upright.
Aluminum rollers still lose their bite over time as bristles wear down and shorten, and hair or thread wound around the roll adds drag that slows the ball bearings at each end. Once the bristles no longer stand up to the pile, agitation drops off on carpet even though the machine still runs at full suction, and the added drag on the bearings can shorten their working life as well if it goes unaddressed.
A fresh roller returns firm bristle contact and lets the bearings spin freely again, which matters more on a commercial machine that runs long hours than it would on a household unit used a few times a week. Clearing hair and thread from the roll on a regular schedule slows that drag from building back up between changes.
Confirm your model number against the SC899G designation before ordering, since hex-end aluminum rollers on other Sanitaire lines are not always interchangeable with this one.
