This rubber hex cap, part 26059A, is a small cover made for the hex-head fasteners on Eureka VGI and VGII upright vacuums, plus the Electrolux-Eureka and Sanitaire models sharing this fitment.
The cap's job is simple: it keeps a hex bolt head from scratching floors, catching on fabric, or collecting grime. Rubber hardens and cracks with age and heat, and once it splits or falls off, the bare bolt head is left exposed.
Small rubber components like this one are usually the last thing anyone thinks to replace, since a missing cap does not stop the vacuum from working. It shows up instead as a scuff on a hardwood floor or a snag on a rug edge that traces back to an exposed fastener rather than to anything wrong with the machine's performance.
