Press it, and the front cover should let go first time, every time. Part 1818GS is the dark gray release that does that job on the SEBO 370 Comfort and Electronic 370.
Once the sprung arm inside the moulding snaps, the fault goes one of two ways. Either the panel will not open at all, so bag changes turn into a wrestling match and the cover usually ends up damaged by the effort, or it will not stay shut and rattles free while the machine works. Both symptoms trace back to this one small component, and both get worse quickly because each failed attempt puts more load on what is left of the arm. The tell is the sound: a healthy release gives a definite click, and a broken one goes quiet before it goes altogether.
Dark gray is the finish used for this part, so it does not match the light gray body mouldings elsewhere on the machine — that contrast is original, not a sign of a previous repair.

Telling this apart from a failed seat is straightforward. Press the release and watch the moulding immediately around it: if the lever moves and the surround stays still, the release itself is at fault and 1818GS is the part; if the whole area flexes, the holder behind it has split and part 1819 belongs on the same order.
