Filters on the CH93619 backpack sit behind service doors, one to each side. This is the right-hand door, Hoover part number 440013725.
Because it is opened at every filter check, the door's hinge and catch see more cycles than most of the housing, and they are where the failures start. Once the door will not latch, or has broken away altogether, the filter compartment is open to the room: dust escapes at the side of the machine, and air finds its way around the filter media instead of through it. Filtration falls off even though the filter itself is fine.
The door is specific to the Hoover CH93619. With it removed you have a clear view of the filter, so it is worth checking the media for loading before you close the new door up.
