Brush roll end cap and bearing for the Hoover SmartWash, part 440013513. It fits the FH52000, FH52001, FH52013 and FH52023V, and the FH53000 family including the FH53000CPC, FH53000PC, FH53000PDI, FH53000TV1 and FH53010.
The cap seats the end of the roller and the bearing lets it turn under load, wet, against grit, on every pass. When the bearing dries out or the cap cracks, the roller begins to grind and drag, and that load goes straight back into the belt and the motor. You will hear it before you see it, as a whine or a rumble that rises and falls with roller speed.
Clear the hair off the roller ends while you have it apart. That is usually what wore the bearing out in the first place.
