Part 440001581 is the main body assembly for the Hoover SH40060, supplied in the Blue Metallic finish. It is the structural housing the rest of the machine is built around.
A cracked main body is a structural fault rather than a cosmetic one. Molded housings give way at their stress points, usually where a fastener or a hinge concentrates load, and a hairline crack that starts there tends to open further with the vibration of ordinary use rather than settling. Once the housing has lost its shape, the parts that mount to it stop sitting where they were meant to sit, and the machine can develop rattles and air leaks that no amount of work on the motor will cure.
