The clean water reservoir and its solution tubing, supplied together as Hoover part 410025001 for the FloorMate hard floor cleaners: the FH40005, FH40010, FH40010B, FH40010TV and FH40010TVC.
Everything the machine does on a hard floor depends on solution actually reaching the brushes. When the tubing splits, hardens, or blocks with dried detergent, or the tank cracks along a seam, the symptom is the same: the trigger clicks, the brushes spin, and the floor stays dry. Sometimes you find the solution running down the inside of the machine instead.
Buying the reservoir and tubing as one kit saves the usual second round of diagnosis, because a crazed tank and perished tubing tend to turn up together on a machine of this age. Flush the new tubing with warm water before first use if the cleaner has been standing.
