The Hoover SteamVac tool holder clip, part 36433212, is the small molded mount that keeps an attachment stowed on the machine between jobs. It sees little stress in ordinary use, but it is also the part that takes the hit when a machine is knocked over or wedged into a closet.
Once the original clip has cracked or snapped off, the attachment has nowhere secure to sit and ends up loose in a closet or the trunk of a car, which is how most of them go missing. The clip costs very little next to replacing the tool it was holding.
