Kirby's Generation 4 hose, part 223693S, runs seven feet and is now supplied in all black, complete with both end fittings already attached to it.

The tell for a failed Kirby hose is a mismatch: attachments that have gone weak while the machine itself still pulls as hard as ever at the floor. Air is getting in through a split in the hose wall, usually hidden under the outer layer near one of the ends where the hose bends most sharply. Stretching the hose out straight and running a hand along its length will often find the leak by feel.

This is the Generation 4 fitment. Kirby hose ends differ between generations even where the hose looks the same, so match yours by the model badge before ordering.
