The transmission gear package, part 243503S, supplies the gearing for the self-propelled drive used across the Kirby Generation series: GEN 3, G4, G5, GSIX, ULTIMATE G and the DIAMOND EDITION.
That drive is the reason a machine of this weight is easy to walk across a room, and worn gearing is felt long before it is heard. The vacuum stops pulling itself forward evenly, the assist fades in one direction, or the drive grabs and lets go as the gears skip across damaged teeth. At that point the Kirby feels like the heavy machine it actually is, and pushing it becomes the job rather than the machine's.
Fitting the gear package restores the smooth, even assist the transmission was built to give. It is an internal repair, so plan on having the housing apart and inspecting the belt and belt lifter while you are in there.
