The Generation 4 upholstery tool, Kirby part 218093, is the flat wide-mouth attachment for fabric: sofa and chair cushions, mattress tops, headliners and car seats. Its long opening spreads the airflow across the surface so the material is drawn against the tool rather than sucked up into it.
Two things send people looking for a new one. The first is a crack, usually at the collar where the tool twists onto the hose, which lets air in and leaves the tool feeling gutless against upholstery. The second is that the original is simply gone, lost out of the attachment bag somewhere between one house and the next.
