A cloth or a dry duster mostly just pushes ceiling and cornice dust around rather than actually removing it, which is where a vacuum-powered brush attachment earns its place. Part 210897S is the wall and ceiling brush built for the Kirby Generation 5, fitting onto the end of the hose or wand so the machine can dust plaster and fixtures up high instead of just the floor.
Its soft bristle face loosens cobwebs and settled dust off plaster, crown moulding and overhead fixtures, and the machine's own airflow carries that debris away in the same pass instead of letting it drift back down onto the furniture underneath. Age eventually splays and stiffens the bristles, and once a brush starts leaving marks on painted drywall rather than pulling the dust away, its useful life is over.
Work a wall or ceiling from top to bottom so any dust knocked loose lands on a section not yet cleaned rather than one already finished, and slow down over corners and fixtures, that is where dust and cobwebs tend to accumulate the thickest and demand the most passes to clear completely. A few extra seconds in those spots saves a second trip back over the same area.
