Note that this one is catalogued as the clip alone, unlike some of the upright clips that are supplied with a screw, so reuse the original fixing when you fit it.

Clips on a canister take a knock every time the body is dragged past a doorframe or pulled up a step, so a snapped one is ordinary wear rather than a sign of anything wrong with the machine. The failure is nearly always at the same place: the clip arms lose their spring, the brush starts to rattle, and shortly afterwards it is left behind somewhere. Replacing the holder at the rattle stage saves the bother of tracking down a brush that has already gone missing, and it keeps the tool where your hand expects to find it.
