The interlock is the safety switch that tells a Rainbow its water pan is in place. With the pan seated the switch closes and the machine will run; without it, nothing happens when you press the power switch, which is exactly the point, since running a water-filtration vacuum with no pan would pull dirt straight through the motor.
Part R7370 replaces that switch on the E and E2 series. It is worth suspecting when an E2 is completely dead with the pan seated properly and the cord known good, because a failed interlock reads as a machine with no power at all. People replace main switches and cords chasing this fault.
It is also listed for the Oreck DMS2000 and DMS2000Q. Unplug the machine before going anywhere near it.
