ProTeam sells each side separately because the two straps rarely wear out together. Most operators favor one shoulder when swinging the pack on, and the strap on that side takes more flex cycles and more direct load over the life of the harness, so it is common to see one strap noticeably more worn than the other on a machine that has otherwise been well maintained. Padding that has gone thin and hard, stitching opening up where the strap anchors to the buckle, or an adjustment that keeps creeping loose over a shift are all signs that one side has reached the end of its service life while the other is still fine. Ignoring a worn strap does not just cost comfort either, since a strap that slips under load shifts the whole pack off center and puts more strain on the good side to compensate.
